After being bestowed a few hundred pieces of jewelry from a wealthy aunt in NOLA, Robin’s curiosity peaked. What did she own? What value did these beautiful antique pieces of jewelry command? How to learn?
Fascinated by their intricate workmanship, glistening gemstones and such attention to the finest detail, she knew she had to research each piece.
No Google, eBay or other sites were thought of then, so Robin headed to the local library where she scoured books on the subject for months. It was definitely time well spent.
Meeting an appraiser of antique jewelry turned into many months of shadowing him to soak up even more knowledge. He was her eyes and she was the ears. At that point, a love affair of fine jewelry began. And so it remains!
Opening her first shop, a cute 600 sq ft “nest”, was done on her newfound knowledge and a huge leap of faith. Five years later and the store busting at the seams, Robin moved to 1,400 sq ft cottage, only 2 blocks away. There for over 13 years, countless engagement rings and loyal customers later, she had to take down her shingle. She had worked herself into a stress induced mini stroke. Though she loved every minute of her 18+ years, it was time to pass the baton.
Now living (80% of her time), in Old Mandeville, Louisiana, a quaint town just across Lake Ponchartrain from NOLA, many requested she “begin again”. And so she did. Less work hours, a small town atmosphere and new but loyal customers, she’s living the semi-retirement dream.
If in the area or driving through, give Robin a call. Set up an appointment, tell her what you are looking for and she will be happy to meet with you. Take a glance through the showcases……never know what estate just came in and you may be the first to view the pieces!
When the famous Texas Antiques Week in Round Top creeps up, you can find Robin in the Campbell Building, downtown Warrenton. Say howdy, grab a hug and peruse the showcases there. Ever changing, this gal has an eye for beautiful pieces at prices to make your wallet sing.
